As we move into 2026, we’re picking up on and leaving behind a number of interior design trends in 2025. Upcoming interior design styling this year is all about leaning into individuality, craftsmanship, and eccentric materials as more consumers become more conscious of the origins and wear of fixtures.
In today’s design landscape, there is so much more to be said than what’s ‘in’, and what’s ‘out’. Interior design and lighting is much more about the space, personal style, and longevity than ever before. However, for those that are looking for some inspiration and guidance on furnishing this year, we’ve got you covered with our wrap up of 2026 lighting trends.
Based on our experience at the most recent Milan Design Week, client projects, and industry-wide trends, our design team are predicting soft statements; a return to natural tones and materials, lights that create presence in each space, and unique, handmade pieces.
2026 Lighting Trends: What To Expect This Year
1. Lighting As Jewellery
Lighting as jewellery is not new as a concept - but it feels especially resonant in 2026. Much like a diamond necklace, the most compelling lighting pieces we’re seeing go beyond function and are designed to bring drama, identity, and emotional impact into a space. Lighting as jewellery also allows for layered lights; big lights for the day-time, and low lights for a moody, atmospheric evening.

2. Sculptural Lighting
As mentioned, sculptural lighting is one of the biggest trends we’re expecting in 2026. Curves will continue to dominate over the next year. Sculptural and artistic lighting offer an opportunity to embrace unique, hand-made pieces with evocative curves and unique textures. A sculptural fixture can create artistic light patterns and shadows that add depth and dimension to a space.

3. Dark Timber
Dark, natural grain timbers are also having a moment in 2026. Think rich walnut, chocolate grains that pair with neutral interiors or tactile interior shades. Dark timber lighting can provide a sense of warmth and intimacy, in both residential and commercial settings.

4. Aged Brass/Bronze Lighting
Demand for bronze lighting and darker patinated finishes has increased in both residential and commercial interior design. Moving away from shiny or overly polished metals, aged brass or bronze lighting can add warmth and character into a space. Particularly against neutrals or other tones of brown and gold, antique-inspired pendant lights, task lights, and lamps are making a comeback in 2026.

5. Vintage Pieces
Vintage, or vintage-inspired, lighting pieces are going to be embraced in 2026. In the era of beige and flat interiors, vintage styled lighting can add authenticity and expressionism to a space; either as a statement or complementary addition. Vintage lighting does not just mean retro lamp shades; we’re talking art-deco glass wall lights, table lamps, and mid-century gold brass pendant lights.

6. Handmade/Artisan Lighting
Interior lighting in 2026 is all about embracing artisan, handmade pieces. Textured, visible imperfections and surfaces are celebrated, rather than covered up. We’re seeing more raw materials, one-of-a-kind requests, and pieces that contribute as pieces of artwork to the space; whether switched on or off.

7. Colour
Pantone’s colour of the year for 2026 is Pantone 11-4201 Cloud Dancer; a soft, off-white shade. A stark contrast to 2025’s mocha mousse, Cloud Dancer, Pantone describes the shade as “a billowy white imbued with serenity”, providing“a symbol of calming influence in a society rediscovering the value of quiet reflection”.

Despite Pantone’s official colour choice, we’re still expecting bold, bright, and fun shades to be at the forefront of lighting trends in 2026. After all, the perfect addition to Cloud Dancer furnishings or a neutral palette, is intentional, bold choices that can provide a delightful ‘pop’ of colour.

8. Textured Lighting
Aligning with sculptural, artistic pieces and hand-made lighting fixtures, expect more texture in 2026. We’re saying goodbye to smooth, perfect, flat surfaces, and welcoming imperfection, lived-in, and earthy materials across pendant lights, wall lights, and lamps. Textured mixed metals, ceramic, clay, concrete, and dimpled glass lighting have the ability to add depth and expression both in the light emitted and the space itself.

9. Portable Lamps
Portable lighting has become more popular over the last twelve months, and is here to stay in 2026. Putting the ‘fun’ in functional, portable or rechargeable lamps are typically relatively compact, stylish, and powerful enough to set the mood. You’ll find them on the tables at your favourite speak-easy, but are also perfect for bedroom, bathroom, and dining spaces.
