Designed by David Wilkes Design (architecture) and Van Rhyn Designs (interior design), this Mediterranean-inspired residence is the epitome of calm, coastal living. Every space within the home speaks to a timeless simplicity, soft curves, natural textures, and a warm neutral palette that captures the relaxed, sun-drenched lifestyle we all crave.

From the breezy open-plan living spaces to the spa-like ensuite and sculptural kitchen, the home balances refinement with comfort, blending architecture, interiors, and decorative elements into one cohesive story.

SORRENTO

A Story of Light and Warmth

Lighting was a central element in shaping the mood and character of Sorrento. The design celebrates natural light by day, complemented by carefully chosen decorative fixtures from Nook Collections, which layer softness and depth into the evenings.

Three Orb Air Pendant Lights cascade through the central void, while an additional pendant was installed in the bathroom, carrying the sculptural simplicity of the home through multiple spaces. Crafted from frosted borosilicate glass with a refined brass rod, these pendants exude a sense of elegant weightlessness. Their gentle, diffused glow offers both sophistication and functionality, equally suited to moments of everyday living and quiet retreat.

Throughout the bathrooms and bedroom, multiple Terra 2 Wall Lights were specified in a vanilla and brass finish. Their twin ceramic cylinders, joined by a central brass ring, add architectural elegance to intimate spaces. The warm glow of these fittings enhances the home’s earthy material palette, highlighting textures of stone, timber, and travertine while creating a calm, layered atmosphere.

Materiality and Mood

At the heart of Sorrento is a commitment to natural materiality. Travertine, stone, and timber define the interior, softened by sheer drapery and neutral-toned furnishings. These elements work in harmony to create spaces that feel both grounded and ethereal. Here, lighting is not just functional, it’s integral to the mood, accentuating textures and reinforcing the Mediterranean-inspired character of the home.

Terra 2 Wall Light

Experience the architectural elegance of the Terra 2 Wall Light, which features two exquisite ceramic cylinders connected by a central metal ring. With a choice of olive, clay, chartreuse, fog, vanilla bean, or lead for the ceramic parts, and brushed black, white, or brass for the metal ring.
